President Dalia Grybauskaitė met with the President of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, to discuss transparency, anti-doping and gender equality in sports. These are the milestones of the Olympic Agenda 2020 – which Lithuania, too, seeks to implement.
Among the other issues discussed at the meeting were the achievements of Lithuanian athletes, their preparation for the 2018 Winter Olympics and the engagement of more women in sport governance.
The President discussed with Thomas Bach the international forum held in Lithuania on advancing women's leadership. Fostering gender equality is among the priorities of the Olympic Agenda 2020. Lithuania ranks as one of the leaders in this area. Since the reestablishment of Lithuanian independence, three out of five Olympic gold medals were won by women - one of them is a current President of LNOC.
EOC Acting President Janez Kocijancic, EOC Secretary General Raffaele Pagnozzi, Olympic Solidarity Director Pere Miro, LNOC President Daina Gudzinevičiūtė were also present in the meeting.
