Most medals won (from a total of 35 teams) by 1. Russia – 54 (21, 17, 16), 2. Great Britain – 33 (17, 10, 6), 3. Ukraine – 15 (8, 4, 3), … 10. Lithuania – 10 (3, 4, 3).

Lithuania in the Olympic Festival

This has been so far the most successful Youth Olympic Festival for the Lithuanian delegation.

51 athletes went to Turkey and won 10 medals.

It was in Trabzon that swimmer Rūta Meilutytė made her first big international appearance. She won three medals – gold, silver, and bronze, – bested several Lithuanian records and earned the Olympic A standard (and a year later became an Olympic champion in London).

Modesta Morauskaitė won the 400 m sprint event.

The Lithuanian basketball team became champions for the third time in a row. The team coached by Gintaras Razutis consisted of such players as Antanas Krimelis, Tautvydas Paliukėnas, Domantas Sabonis, Kasparas Krasauskas, and others.

Silver medals were won by swimmer Danas Rapšys, javelin thrower Liveta Jasiūnaitė, and gymnast Robert Tvorogal.

Tennis doubles team Justina Mikulskytė and Akvilė Paražinskaitė, as well as javelin thrower Povilas Dabašinskas all won bronze.
