Lithuania in the Olympic Days
The Lithuanian athletes were particularly successful in the event and won Lithuania’s first Winter Olympic Days medal.
7 athletes represented Lithuania in Vuokatti. Among them were as many as 4 future Olympians: biathlete Diana Rasimovičiūtė, Alpine skier Vitalijus Rumiancevas, and skiers Aleksejus Novoselskis and Irina Terentjeva.
I. Terentjeva was the one to win Lithuania’s first Winter Olympic Days medal – she placed 2nd in the 10 km race. The athlete also performed well in the sprint event where she placed 9th.
D. Rasimovičiūtė was 19th, A. Novoselskis – 21st, and V. Rumiancevas – 43rd.
Lithuania was among 15 medal-winning countries, while 25 countries did not manage to win any medals.
